There are some ugly features of Ethereal where NetMon is much better: - Can't capture a PPP connection - only physical Ethernet I think. - Screen updating is slower (I sometimes use Terminal Services over a dial-up connection and run NetMon remotely). But Ethereal is pretty straight forward and free, and has some features that NetMon does not. Go to: http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/win32/ Scroll to bottom. Download two files: WinPcap_3_0.exe ethereal-setup-0.10.5a.exe If you want to capture and display data, install both (in any order). If you only want to display data captured elsewhere, install Ethereal only.
