-> Ah, no wonder Linux is a tough sell for you, then. Well, distributions are -> getting to a point where everything get setup during installation - they're -> just not quite there yet. When you compare the installation of Mandrake 9.2 -> with what installers in 1998 looked like, you'd see that they have already -> improved a lot in that timeframe. Installers back then did setup almost -> NOTHING. O I have been seen that. the difference between my First try with REDHAT a few years back, 10 or so, And the the Mandrake they have made Great progress. But climbing up on my Old Soap Box, "STILL not ready for the Big Time" :-) -> TW> Rebotted and guess what. I could find NO place to make it dial in -> TW> when I -> TW> called up the Browser. Even the buttons to call up the Mandrake Web -> TW> sites wouldn't do it. -> There should be a tool for that, but since I don't use desktop environments on -> Linux, I have no idea what it is called. I dimly remember something called -> kppp, maybe that can be found somewhere in KDE's menu (assuming Mandrake uses -> KDE as the graphical environment). I did select KDE, And I found out that it was KPPP that apparently does the Job. But KPPP is nowhere to be found through the Desktop. My heart is really not into Installing LINUX. I just wanted to see what al lthe Hype" was all about. The local group has what they call a "OInstall Fest" occasionaly o na saturday. But I am in NO mood to unhook everything and haul it down there to have someone Dazzle me by installing it. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
