BV> It was me who attempted a few times today though. I eventually gave BV> up and set the fucking thing to try a v32.bis 14k4 connect. PE> Your workaround stopped working? It seemed as though your modem just went bezerk. BV> BTW, what the hell are you attempting to do ? PE> Make use of my dedicated data line so that people can send me faxes. Here's a novel idea. Buy a modem which properly handles Adaptive Answer. BV> Why the heck don't you stop screwing everyone around with crap gear BV> and giving everyone the shits ? Just go out and buy a Banksia V.34, BV> plug it in and leave the fucker alone. It will work. If people can't BV> connect to it with MNP-69,V.78,SX-2 then tell 'em to get a new modem. PE> I was warned multiple times not to buy a Banksia. Who from ? In all seriousness, Banksia would be best of the local stuff. To the best of my knowledge, all the local stuff use the Rockwell chipset and Banksia are the only ones who rewrite *all* the code. PE> Since then I have ALSO heard that they have problems connecting to PE> Vipers with adaptive answer on. Probably because the Vipers are fucked, as are *all* Spirit modems. PE> Also BTW, does this mean the USR Courier is violating the V34 spec, PE> since it has no problem calling the Viper? BV> Dunno. Since you have such a high opinion of USR's, I wouldn't' be BV> surprised :) PE> I need to put the Netcomm back before I know whether there is PE> something fishy about the Spirit. I'll just leave AA on for PE> another day (forgot to fax myself), and then switch it off PE> again. BFN. Paul. Why bother ? You know the Viper is fucked. You know that MBE are fucked. You know that Netcomm are fucked. Why are you doing this to yourself ? Are you a masochist as well as an idiot ? Just buy a Banksia. They work.
