Actually, it's perfectly acceptable to reboot this way - I do it all
the time. The only drawback is that your application is never told
that it's about to be killed, so any unsaved data is never written to
disk.  If you can get it so that at any given time, you don't have
open, un-updated files (which is good to do anyway), then your users can
reboot without any fears.
