Serious studies were made. My ex- boss [1950s] was under pressure to provide
garbage incineration to support the NSW electricity grid [and its large elec
train/ tram load]- he had already harnessed ships in ports, and factory
co- generation to cut the blackouts of that time.
He said "Let the garbage authorities build their own power stations, I will
buy all the energy they can supply, at the rates we generate at". There were
no takers.
He used to refer to the problems of "dumped pushbikes on the chain grate
stoker".
So, it gets down to bean counting.  HEENZ MEENS BEENS!
