I guess lots RJT> of copies of stuff spread out here and there among a number of machines RJT> is probably the best bet. The stories I hear about short life are in the OTR echo and I suspect these are guys dumping old radio programs off to cdr and playing them in the car - one guy states as much. Look at any insert and you see one of the big no-no's is to put them in places where they have wild temp swings - and I think a hot car would fill that bill nicely. I have several that trace back to my very first burner, circa 1988 or so, and they play fine today. Difference is I keep them in Jewel boxes, and those are stored in metal file cabinets inside the house. :) --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.43* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
