Ernie, I hope you are just stating the warped logic of
the people who thought up such a stupid law and not
your own opinion.
The best form of defence against dying in a shoot out
with a criminal is to be wearing a vest.  That way even
it he shoots first you stand a very good chance of
surviving!  I have never understood any law that makes
free people softer targets.
