subject: Red Rump Parrot

Hello Rick,
RF> Caould any one give me some kind of info on a red Rump parrot.. there is such a thing>I called a local pet store in my area to ask if
RF> What i would like to know is the life span of this bird.. speacial
RF> fetures.. and if it is able to be trained to talk? Please let me know
The Red Rump is of the parakeet family. It is about the size of a cockatiel
and they have a pleasant song. I would venture to say, if the bird is well
cared for, that it could live to be 20. They can be sexed visually for the
female is green and the male is more colorful. (I can't remember the exact
coloring.)
Like all of the parakeet family they are ground feeders and fast fliers. It
is
best to keep them in a larger cage. They can probably be taught to speak, but
it is up to the bird if it wants to.
Is the bird handfed or parent raised?
