OOOHH NOOOO!!! Burn balsa''''''''man this is a nightmare (as I wipe the
tears) .
Seriously now Lance. I'm also a scratch builder and I bought
boxes of fall off pieces at RC flea markets and it was darn nice wooden
blocks. I've been looking for large blocks or planks (rough cut) balsa
so I can cut all my own sizes, so if by chance your place of employment
would consider selling if they have any. If you have any fall off
pieces left after this gentleman gets his, I'll be more than grateful to
take as much as is available before it hits the firebox. I'll absorb
all shipping costs. The blocks I got at the flea market is nearly gone
now so this is perfect timing.
I am disabled for 16 yrs. now. I am a pilot holding a private
license with all my instrument instructions. I haven't flown for a
while, thats the reason for scratch building. Its also getting
difficult to get out as much as the preceding year.
I have a nephew who is an engineer in Venezuela where the balsa
trees grow. Been after him to sent me a tree or two. He said that
balsa barely has any value there being its so plentiful but the shipping
is a killer.
I always noticed the balsa Hollywood uses in their sets and
props, destroys the balsa and then discards it. Why couldn't I live
closer.
If you would keep me in mind and let me know about the
large balsa planks and fall off pieces I will greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
TTYL
