When I say a mail scanner. it mean something that scans the bases for new
mail. and lets the users know. and possibly let them read their waiting mail
while they are sitting on their haunches and saying "Gee, it shows my message
numbers. why won't it show me the actual message text? Mbase 4.11a does that.
but sometimes that program fails to work right. like sometimes the origin
lines in your replys are hosed. sometimes they are fine.
Scanmail 27c was our other mailer we were working with. it seemed to
not show all of my users their mail. Namely Vance Vagall My co'sysop has run
into that one. scanmail would say "No new mail waiting Vance". but he can go
into the message base. do Q for quickscan and BAM! find messages without the
recieved bit set for him. So I want to know of another good mail checker
program. Your Mail Sir seemed to be another good choice but the configuration
file was a bit complicated for what it was supposed to do. Ranch Message
Queue was simple enough but shows any messages waiting lists for everyone.
(good for me, not for john user who only wants to see his message waiting
list.
Did Tomas Gradin ever write an update to mbase? if so whats his new
current netmail adress to freq it from? I don't mind calling europe if I get
what I am looking for straight away. but if I have to search and dig... ugh!
AT&T is going to have a party on my nickles.
