-> Crack magazines been around since the early 60s, & I presume still is
-> Anyway,Severin was long the backbone artist of this imatation of mad.
Uh...that's CRACKED, not "Crack" (g)! And yes, I remember this rather
lame copy of Mad that, oddly enough, also acquired Don Martin for a
while, (must have been some falling out there for HIM to leave Mad! He's
been there from the time it left comic book form!) There was another
magazine that followed Mad a little sooner than "Cracked" did, called
"Sick". This one was actually ALMOST as funny as the early sixties Mads,
but the artwork was poorer and the writing was OBVIOUSLY inspired by
Mad. Mad, however, has been so lame since about 1965, it isn't funny,
(pun intended,) and it is now obviously written and drawn by a bunch of
old farts WAAYYYY past their prime, some of which actually come off
addle-brained, (Paul Peter Borges,) and they ALL come off tired.
When Sol Weinstein left to do his "Oy-Oy-Seven" books and later died,
the magazine went to hell.
I > wonder why either Severin never worked for Mad. Or why Elder
and Kurtzman left. (Remember "Help!" magazine???)
