I can say this, 3 weeks ago the rumor that the Babbage's chain was dropping
the Jaguar. At our local Babbage's all the stuff for the Jaguar including its
titles were taken off the display racks and stuck on a shelf between Nintendo
controlers and Snes hardware. I asked straight forward to the Asst Manager if
there was any truth to the rumor they were dropping the Jaguar. He stated he
had heard the rumor but could not say if it were true. I asked him how to
contact someone from Babbage's that would know. I was then told he had no
contact numbers that I could have. He did however give me the number of his
distributer for the Jaguar stuff. I called when I got home and was told that
Babbage's was not dropping the Jaguar by the distributer, but instead it was
Atari was dropping the Jaguar so that is why Babbage's was trying to clear
their inventory. Now I don't know if this is rumor or if its truth, it is
however what I was told. Now if it is only rumor I think its still damageing
to Atari and they should work double time to correct it. Since that time I
have been told quite a few things that I won't comment on here until they are
confirmed. I will say though that talking to my WaldenSoft employees here
they tell me that since the price drop of the Jaguar that they can't get them
in fast enough as they are selling so good. I was told that the software
sales are great and that they are extreamly happy with the hardware sales as
well. It would seem that the different contrasts in sales and opinions of
Atari is decided not by rumor but in willingness to sell the products. They
advertise the Jaguar with a big sign in front of their store, they also have
the Jaguar display setup in a key spot in the store with all titles in an "in
your face" display. Their sales are great. From the manager down everyone in
the store promotes the Jaguar loudly and publicly.
