On 2 eCS installations I've had to replace it with com.sys. The thinkpad
was using a Xircom PCMCIA modem, one other machine was using a homebrew
program using the com port to an X10 CP290 controller. In both cases all
problems went away when I switched out from SIO2K. Don't understand this,
I've been using earlier (and registered) SIO for a long time with no
complaints.

The 3rd machine still has SIO2K but nothing hooked to the com port.
