subject: Re: Migrate OE v5 to v6 across machines?

From: Randall Parker

Gary,

You are telling me to fire up OE on the new machine.

The old NT machine has its C: drive mapped as X: on the new machine. I'm trying to
find the directories you are talking about.

Note that the machine I'm trying to migrate is a few thousand miles away from me.
Using my own NT machine (which has OE 5.5 but I haven't used it in years)
as an example I see by searching on *.dbx files (which is a file type OE
uses according to
pages Geo pointed me to):

C:\winnt\profiles\\"Application
Data"\Identities\\"Outlook
Express"\

As the place whihc has a bunch of dbx files for news groups as well as Folders.dbx
and Inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, Offline.dbx. Outbox.dbx, and Pop3uidl.dbx.

So is one of them the address book? Or is that somewhere else entirely?

I want to move their in and out boxes and their address book and basic settings.

Do I need to import one file at a time?

I most want to move the address book.

I do not find a "share" or "shared" directory. Do you
mean either of those names
literally?

Are you telling me to physically move files over to the new machine with Explorer or
do everything from within OE?
