That sounds exactly like what I did.

Unless I misunderstood Rod, so long as I used HPFS, there was
no LBA issue. I only used HPFS. Not to mention the fact that
it worked anyway, I was initially able to read the data, and
even install 7 OS/2 disks. AND I was able to recover all the
data with a utility, even with LBA enabled.
