Nice stroll down memory lane. Being one year younger than you, I had
just begun my senior year in high school and didn't even care about the
war yet. Your story made me recall my clear memory of listening to the
"long version" of Hey Jude on the radio (with friends) while parked in
the A&W drive-in. For me they were still sweet, carefree high school days.

Precisely.  Revolution came out and I vividly recall being in a car with a 
bunch of other guys cruisin the main drag by the burger places and just 
POUNDING the dashboard along with the beat of Revolution.  The message 
became more important as time went on but the initial blast was the power of 
the music and the driving beat...it was a great new Beatle song!
