I'm not wealty or powerful and most certainly am not organized.  I
oppose the blanket use of Prozac and Ritalin without consideration of
any alternatives and/or a decent health history of the entire family as
being medical malpractice.
Those two drugs are as over used today as Valium and Librium were a few
years ago.  I've worked with women who were addicted to Valium...the
withdrawal from that drug, given by doctors who had no idea at all of
what was wrong with them  because they lacked the history they needed
before they started in, is terrible.  It took three full years for
several of them to complete extended withdrawal from the Valium!!!!!
Any mind altering drug should be given only by a doctor who has obtained
a full mental, emotional, and physical history of the entire extended
family back to the grandparent generation AND who is qualified to know
exactly what effect that drug is going to have on any one member of
that same family in advance!!  This crap of giving someone a drug to
"see if it will do some good" is going to lead to one gigantic whopper
of a law suit in the not too dim distant future.
