subject: Network link monitor for linux

VP> Hello everybody.

VP> Is there some program for linux that can monitor a network link
VP> (preferably by both checking the link status and pingin some
VP> preset adresses) and run some script if the link seems down

JB> such could be written in a few lines of bash script etc...

JB> ifconfig can give a report on the link status

you could also use

'mii-tool | grep "no link"'

If it returns something the link is down.

Bo
