Hi Kris, thanks for the juicy response.

I removed the scsi card, and tried to install v1.1, however it again
choked on the SIO2k, so I re-tried using IBM com.sys
and the install went quite smoothly. Towards the last part of the phase
one install, I got a SYS0003 error about a not able
to find path. Clicking okay allowed the rest of the install plus phases
2 and 3 to proceed without problems.

I'm somewhat puzzled as this scsi card worked okay with a different ATX
board under version 1.0.

I assume that the problem lies with ECS and v1.1. Are they addressing
the scsi problem?

Two weeks total was about as long as I frustrated myself with this problem.

A sincere thanks for shedding some light on the problem, the solution I
had searched for all over the web, and found nothing.

Am I right in thinking that the problem is not actually with the ASUS MB?

Why SIO2K would be a problem, I don't know but can live with COM.SYS okay.

With the card re-installed, ECS still boots but without the SCSI drive.
Can I now install the scsi driver?

Can SIO2k now be installed, since ECS boots up?

I know, questions, questions, questions.

Can you fill in anymore blanks?

Thanks so much.
