No, you cannot have a workstation authenticate to a domain.  You either need 
a BDC in each building, or accept some service outages.
You can log on locally to the workstation. However, you'd have to manage the 
accounts on the local workstations, including passwords, profiles, ... . 
Royal pain in the butt.
