Hello All.
In 1976, in France, a new style of music came to life: ProgSynth. The creator
of this is Jean Michel Jarre: his very first album 'oxygene' (tracks: oxygene
part 1-6) sold worldwide. His first concert was attended by a million fans.
The renewing aspect about this music was that it was completely synth, no
guitar, drums or any other instrument. Before, Oldfield and Vangelis had been
doing the same thing, but they only replaced the popular instruments by synth
Erszats-effects. Jarre created new instruments. This style was continued on
his next two albums: 'Equinoxe' and 'Magnetic Fields/Champs Magnetiques'.
Later, Jarre began introducing ordinary instruments, but still using them in
experimental music. He replaced his synths by modern digital keyboards,
creating strong, futuristic sounds. He became known as the King of Techno,
but his creations were never played in any disco. He asked a few DJ'd to
remix his most popular songs, and these remixes became more popular than the
original form.
Now, after more than 20 years, Jarre went back to his roots: analog synths. A
few days ago, he released Oxygene 7-13. Without throwing away his life-long
experience with modern music, he re-creates 70's music. Using some old
background themes and some new, creative themes that still sound like 20
years ago, this album is a real follow-up for his big brother.

PS: Robert Miles is not too bad either.
