This is wrong McAfee scan does do a self check and will abort if it fails.  
Edit a copy of scan with Norton (etc) and change some TEXT in scan or change 
the MZ at the start to ZM then run it.
The old series of scan also did a self test but gave a choice if the program 
should continue.
