Paul, at 16:56 on May 17 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BG> 2.5Gb ??? $515 PE> Yum Cha is $495. BG> 72-pin 8Mb $99 BG> 72-pin 16Mb $320 PE> Yum Cha is $237. CWS's prices change daily on stuff like RAM, and my price list is well out of date at 2 weeks old. That's why I gave you their fax number, so you could check their latest prices on the highly volatile stuff like RAM and HDs. BG> 28k8 V.34 Int Austel $299 BG> 28k8 V.34 Int Win/P75+ $199 BG> 28k8 V.34 Ext Austel $349 BG> --------------------------- PE> Didn't you say it was $195 for an external? I didn't specify either way earlier, but later mentioned it was internal. PE> That price for an external is more than Yum Cha's price on Australian PE> modems! So? Call them and haggle. A good example is the Epson ColorIIs printer, of which we need 3. These RRP at $699, HN sells them for $649, and they can be had "on special" for $599, yet CWS's dealer price is $369 inc tax (see the immense margin that your average computer shop adds?). Not satisfied with that, we rang Edge for their price, and were told $345 ex tax, and when we mentioned the price at which CWS would sell them, they immediately dropped their over-the-phone price to just $305 ex, which, when you consider that we can now avoid shipping costs from Vic, is actually a tad cheaper than CWS. As I said, it pays to shop around. A saving of $330 off RRP ain't trivial.
