Yes Cliff, but I'm not talking about "someone" else, I'm talking
specificially about my modem. My modem using the supra defaults gets TERRIBLE
throughput on 33.6 connects. Please note that I'm complaining about the
_throughput_, not an inability to connect at 33.6. WHEN I DO connect at 33.6,
my CPS rates are terrible. When the modem shifts down to 31.2, the CPS rates
are normal.

%E1? %E by _DEFAULT_ is set for 0. My next question is: is "Auto Retrain" the
same as "Rate Renegotiation"? I don't think so. And please read the following
for why I don't think so.
When I connect at ANY speed using V34/+, my modem will switch up and down as
the line quality changes. It does this EVEN THOUGH %E0 IS BEING USED. I have
my Supra display set to show when the rates are changed, and I *NEVER* get a
RT display. RT is the display shown to signal "RETRAIN IN PROGRESS".
If that's not convincing enough, check what %G does, and look at what it's
default is.
