   The standard VPN client supports something called Connection Manager =
that allows other software to run. If you installed a CM package from =
your employer it could run other software. If you are using a plain old =
PPTP or L2TP connection then I do not believe they can run anything.

   The update that provided the new UI would likely look like any of the =
other updates. There is nothing particularly interesting about it and =
given your setting in the screenshot you included, it is not responsible =
for automatic updates.

   If you don't have SUS/WUS installed and you don't run any program or =
scripts from your company then I can't explain why you would have had an =
update installed without you approving it.

  This is my personal computer at home. It is not a member of a domain.=20
  It's the only member of a workgroup called WORKGROUP (installation=20
  default, I believe). I have not installed any VPN client software from =
my=20
  company, either. This is the standard Windows VPN client that I=20
  occasionally use to remote desktop to a computer at work.

  Is there a particular entry in the Add/Remove programs list that would =

  have included this?

  Thanks.
