Hello Jeff!
Friday May 31 1996, Jeff Jenkins babbled to Greg Cobb:
GC>> Tell ya what, I'd get a little more training. (no pun intended!)
-> :) I'm still new to this stuff so no offense taken....
:)
GC>> Kenwood and thought it was a nice unit. It had the midrange
GC>> adjustment and some nice features with it. But when I got the 9175
GC>> Clarion CD Player I thought I was in heaven. It has 6 RCA outs,
GC>> ID-Logic, support for multiple changers, a non-glare display, and
GC>> alot more.
-> What did that Clarion cost though?
I believe high-retail on it is about $650 or so.
-> I read the reviews on their new model
-> with the EXTREMELY low distortion and noise levels.... sure looks nice
-> and
-> the reviewers all praised it, but there's no way I can spend $1200 on a
-> deck.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't shell out $650 on anything I have! I'm content
as you are with some simple things. I was wanting to get a lower model, but
after seeing a few prices and being talked into buying the high-end one,
that's what I wound up with. :)
-> Not with my civil service job anyways.... Maybe I should have said
-> audiophile on a budget in training.... :)
Heh!
-> My advice was meant for others on a budget of course.... I paid under
-> $500
-> for my entire system new and it sounds great to my ears and everyone
who's
-> heard it so far. I've got a nice ADS amp waiting to be installed and
-> matched to some decent subs, the pioneers I have bite.
Alot of people can get something to satisfy them with about that much
cashola. And there are alotta people who come into the store and want a
system for about that much. I just can't see it. :)
-> If you've got the money to spend on pure audiophile equipment then go for
-> the Clarions and Alpines.... I like mine simple and clean and that's
hat
-> I've got (except for the electrical tape.)
Nothing wrong with that! I've seen some simple systems and wondered how they
sounded as good as they did!
