Louis, there are socket services for PCMCIA add on cards, and socket 
services for communications/TCP/IP style.  All unix implementions use
communication socket services, and IBM TCP/IP uses them as well.
The PCMCIA services are supported by OS/2 with Rexx and the 
developer's toolkit.
