06 Aug 96 , Derek Woodlands did fondle the keyboard and wrote to me!:
 Yowser & greets Derek!,

DW> Well, it shows how time flies when you are having fun. I remember this
DW> echo in its heyday when 100 or more messages a day was the norm. How

Derek! Wash your mouth out with soap! And throw the IBm keyboard into the pool! ;-)

DW> Somewhere I've possibly got some even earlier stats. I found an old
DW> pile of backup disks from around 1992 the other day.

I don't think I was here then... maybe... hmmm

DW>>> BTW, is the Quicknet/IBM up and running yet?

RVR>> Nope :) Waiting on Norman - I think he got caught again ;-)

DW> Maybe he went into hiding again?

I think he did for a while :) As if he could escape me ;-)

DW> Anyway, at least John V. has it up and running. Maybe a trans-Tasman
DW> phone call by Norman is in order? ;-)

Norman emailed me, he'll have v2.52 of QuickNet.device finished and emailed
to me this coming week. I hope he has success, he deserves it. Fingers
crossed... I might get it all working in a week :)

Actually, Samba - which John V. is using, appeared to fare better with the
old device. I sorta got success, but couldn't figure out how to configure
the "network" names so Win95 would log them properly. Samba is
still confusing to me, I'd like to get a better example config or a better
explanation of it's config's. But then, mybe it was the device that was
helping with the confusion?

In the meantime it's PC2Amiga to get the files transferred to the PC,
although I wish more had to go the other way. Transfer from the PC to the
Amiga (and out to the world via internet) can be done with NFS at the speed
of the ZorroII slot :) Ethernet is quicker than ZorroII :(

Cheers, __
