Hello Kristoffer:
KL> I think the first part of the mini-series, up until the whole 'good'
KL> party reaches the Free Zone, is better than the
KL> book itself. The rest of the mini-series is not
KL> that good, though. What really disappointed me with
KL> the novel (and the mini-series) was the lousy
KL> ending. Suddenly the hand of God comes down and
KL> destroys Las Vegas; ridiculous. :( King could have
KL> thought out something more King-ish, IMHO.
The whole novel on a whole was a good story and had it's merits...except for
the ending which really didn't do the story justice. I guess that's why King
didn't like this novel in the first place (I haven't read Danse Macabre yet
it tells of his reasons why he disliked this novel).
The whole hand of God thing was kind of lame and the way some of the
characters died didn't really suit the story. But I still loved the concept
and underlying story.
TB> the only novel in which I really care about
TB> the characters and what had
TB> happened to them. :)
KL> Really? I think every novel that takes place in
KL> Castle Rock, and there are many :), is great and
KL> have characters I care about. I think Gerald's Game
KL> is the worst of the King books.
Gerald's Game and Insomnia are two of his worst novels. There are two novels
which really stand out in my mind as true king novels Salem's Lot and Dead
Zone which are pretty darn good reading...
