RW> It seems to me that you are the one who don't
RW> understand HOW it is used. I've seen it FIRST HAND.
RW> Zero Tolerance (ZT) means just that ZERO, none, nada,
RW> zilch tolerance for any violation of the rules.
RW> You seem to want to apply ZT only to certain crimes or
RW> areas. IOW, you don't want ZT, you want ZT in the
RW> areas YOU think is good but want Some Tolerance (ST) in
RW> other areas. Sorry but you can't have it both ways w/o
RW> looking or being hypocritical or preadjust.
KA> You are beginning to come across as having a closed mind.
KA> Even if citizens demanded, and the police were willing,
KA> there probably isn't enough money or manpower to use zero
KA> tolerance in all areas. When Tom (or others) explain that
KA> zero tolerance is mostly used at the demand of citizens in
KA> an area that has been or is being taken over by scumbags, it
KA> just goes over your head. Then, you throw up incidences of
KA> abuse arising out of a school district's application of zero
KA> tolerance.
I again point out that I have LIVED THROUGH A ZT
NIGHTMARE, one that could have cost my daughter her
life!! And it was demanded by the citizens. They
wanted to prevent drugs at school. What they didn't
realize was that once you let the genie out of the
bottle it takes on a life of its own.
If you want a LE example just look at gun control. It
started out as an idea to protect the citizens but it
has become a way to make sure the citizens are sheep
for the searing for the people who don't follow the
laws.
KA> Think about it a little deeper, huh!
Why don't you expend your thinking? Do you really want
to turn your local police in to a bunch of mindless
robots who do nothing but strictly enforce the rules?
People who "just follow orders"?
Or do you want to allow them the leeway to say "this
guy just made a mistake and won't do it again" or "this
guy is a total loser who will do it again and again"?
Remember: Freedom isn't Free!
