| subject: | gas additive |
-> is there something that can be added to gas to remove or convert water to -> something that won't drown out an engine? i seem to recall something somewhere -> that would affect any water and chemically combine with it to make something -> that would either burn with the gas or at least flow out without drowning the -> engine... -> the problem is a 5gal black plastic tank on a generator that appears to -> condensate quite a bit and i'm about tired of having to drain the tank and -> disassemble some of the gas flow stuff to flush out all the water just to get -> the damned thing running... Yes they do. It is called Alcohol. It is Sold Commercialy in the Coldere Climates as "Dry GAs" and under several other brand names. Since Alcohol likes top absorb water it does in the gas tank. In the case of the Cold Climates of course it is to prevent the water form freezing and blocking the gas lines. It would work for what you want also. But don't put more then 10% alcohol in the tank. First that would be gross overkill. And more then that will upset the Fuel to Air ratio and the running of the engine. Typical in the Cold climates you put a pint in 10 gallons of gas or so. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
