KIT:
I have read all of your messages replying to my messages. I am not going to
get into things with you again, nor reply to those messages specifically.
You are wrong in the above paragraph. I said it before, I say it now. Want
PROOF? Although I am not being paid to be your teacher or to educate you, I
will give you an opportunity to find out for yourself.
I called DISNEY today to ask the question myself. I was told that once
someone purchases a tape from a retail source or whatever, it is theirs to do
with as they wish. In fact, I was told that the studio is well aware that
MANY people stockpile movies before they go on moratorium solely to sell them
later on when they go up in value, and that is fine with them, and it
violates NO copyright of any kind. Indeed, the studio ENCOURAGES this!
OK, so here is my PUBLIC CHALLENGE to you. In front of God and everyone on
this echo. Call CARLA at 1-800-723-4763. She works for customer/client
support and sales for Buena Vista. (It's also the number for Disney Customer
Service). She told me point blank that what I have been posting concerning
this matter is 100% correct. I detailed for her what your view was, and she
confirmed you were 100% wrong. And as I said, she even confirmed that it is
completely legal to buy as many copies of a Disney title as one wants for the
purposes of resale later. The studio is well aware this is widely practiced,
and to them it's fine. It's just more sales for them during the window of
time the movies are in release, so they're all for it.
CALL HER. I expect a public apology in this echo within a week. And an end
to this discussion.
