The mssing '>' was only in the post, not in the actual code; I just =
quickly typed in a dummy example.
I already discovered that the line number is generally correct. What I =
wanted to know is whether there is a way to determine which file. It =
sounds like you are saying there is no way other than examining each = one.
This wouldn't be so bad if I had been modifying only one of the = files.
Unfortunately, I had been working on all of them, and there are = actually
ten of them.

I my experiments, the error has the wrong filename but the correct =
line number. Look at line 1 of each of the three files.
Note that you are missing the closing '>' in "

am relatively new to windows scripting. I created a WSF file=20
calledtest.wsf that includes several vbscript files. It looks =
kind of=20
like
this:<package> =20
<job>
<script =
language=3D"VBScript"=20
src=3D"file1.vbs"/>
<script=20
language=3D"VBScript" =
src=3D"file2.vbs"/> =20
<script language=3D"VBScript" =
src=3D"file3.vbs"/> =20
</job</package>When

that=20
says Script: =
test.wsf Line:=20
1 Char:
43 Error: =
Expected end=20
of statement Code: =
800A0401 =20
Source: Microsoft VBScript compilation errorI think
the line =
number=20
is for one of the referenced vbs files, not the wsffile. How do =
I find=20
out which one? The script debugger doesn't help becauseit is a=20
compilation error, not a run-time error (although I would =
havethought=20
these are one and the same for an interpreted language).I =

doing something wrong, because using Google I could not =

the same =
