I see now those drivers for the thinkpad 760el are for
the es1688. Did you expand the driver files you found
for the es488 into a directory or on a floppy, then at
a command prompt, enter "minstal" and point it to the
drivers? Usually drivers are set up this way. It
should detect the card and put the setting in
config.sys for you. So far I haven't found something
that tells me what parameters go on the driver line.
