Ritalin is usually the first one tried, because it has been studied to death
and the side effects are well known. It also zips right through the body in
a few hours, so any bad (or good) effect will not linger. It is sometimes
combined with Prozac because Ritalin can aggravate any underlying anxiety.
Dexedrine is another widely used medication, probably number two on most
lists. Then there is clonidine, and some less widely useful ones as Effexor
and Tenex.
