-> i now have two newer runs of barbed wire in place

Barbed wire. I never tried that.

-> you just connected on the main machine... i heard a 19200 connect
-> that time and a 21600 earlier ;)

My modem reports 24000. You can tell from the tones?

Every connect I've tried today has been good. Six months ago when the
problem was happening, the modems struggled to negotiate. But now they
sync right up, like they should.

I hope it stays that way ...

I realize this is the PCBoard echo, but it has so little traffic, I see
no harm going off topic. There's no moderator anyway.

Maybe I should take on that job. Not that I feel a need to assert my
authority. I mainly want to prevent any power hungry control freak from
taking over and killing the fun. Some echos have that problem.

I would have simple, self enforcing rules, as outlined previously.
