this day in time, if things are done "properly" there is nothing
to porting other than simply compiling for the new OS... the problems arise
when certain items are assumed and end up hardcoded... eg: forcing '\' in
paths... in FPC, the RTL ntakes care of determining the proper path
separator and one then only need to use a known system variable to indicate
the slash or backslash ;)  that and assuming drive letters are the two
worst... there are other things, too, but those are the two worst...
