On the security lists they post when a new virus shows up and when updates
for the popular AV programs show up. Mcafee , Fprot and AVG seem to be the
first to release updates.

AVG was first with 2 out of the past 10 new mutations, I sent them a sample
of one sasser version that got thru my barracuda box and they had an update
out within 2 hours, it took the barracuda guys 3 hours.
