Jussi Hamalainen scribbled a note to James Young:
JH> Actually Dos Max runs pretty nicely under Win95 without any
JH> serious tinkering. If you use a front-end mailer, DO NOT use
JH> the Win32 version of Max (MaxN), as Win95 has a bug that
JH> prevents your mailer, even if win32 as well, from passing a
JH> hot COM-port to Maximus thus causing a carrier drop.
While I am not a programmer, somehow this doesn't make any sense..
Multiple programs can access the modem using Winsock, so why doesn't
this work with a windows-compatible fossil driver?
Conversely, if it works with Winsock, why not adapt a fossil to act
as a winsock agent and then write bbs software to access the winsock?
