Hi,
I'm quite intrigued by your observation simply because I have a strong
interest, in an amateur sort of way, unfortnately, in the mixing and general
production of pop music - I am a songwriter mainly (not a successful one I
regret) but the MIX of a song totally fascinates and obsesses me sometimes
(maybe I should see a doctor!) - and I grew up listening to the beatles
singles on scratchy vynil obviously, so it's just too hard not to comment.
Im not really a commenting sort of person - more of a listener - but anyway,
here goes.

- I'm intrigued by the simple fact that YOUare intrigued by the sudden drop
in levels - I have nothing particularly clever to say about it and can't
even pretend to be familiar with the track (I'm mainly a singles man) but
from the tracks that I have mixed myself, I know that you sometimes you have
to make rather sudden level changes at critical points in a song and 99
times out of a hundred, if you aren't the person who did the mix, no-one
will notice and they probably aren;t supposed to notice - having siad all
that, you seem to be implying that it's more of an over all drop in level
and short of guessing the obvious, like some sort of technical error, even
an accidental nudge of the master faders or something equally daft, I don't
have any intelligent guesses as to why - I probably shouldn't have wasted
your time leading you to believe I had something useful to say now I come to
think of it - I just fancied sticking my nose in coz I find it so
interesting the way people listen to records - and because I have a total
obsession with wanting to mix the perfect pop record!!

In case you hadn't gathered, I'm fairly new to the internet - lived under a
rock a while - if anyone can point me to a more appropriate group (if you
think I'm a bit off topic here) I will be most grateful. Basically I
wanna MAKE pop music and chat aboutvthe making of it - but I adored the
beatles singles so I couldn't resist answering to this. Right, now I'm
crawling back under my rock a while - see you later - Steve Brough
