There is a difference between had disks and mountable media like JAZZ. 
  The last one gets converted under cover for you. Be sure you use the 
WPS to unmount the drive before you removes it! Else you will destroy 
the filesystem on it (even when it is FAT16/32!).

O.k. you can use for the release even
LVM /RediscoverPRM
on commandline. As this is that what the object in the drives folder 
calls.

For Harddrives you have to setup them to LVM per hand as eCS does 
nothing for you here. As sayed no data is affected on this.
