As I've trained into shorthand backup all my OS2/eCS computers have
anything I may ever need in case of a crash (system drive, network
card, cable local available I can in case of a problem that is not
recoverable by boot up to commandline (boot with Alt+F1) quickly boot
from CD.

By that it is a good idea to fixup \os2\boot\config.x so that boot to
commandline will initiate the network card and makes it possible to
login into LAN. I'd done that some month ago to get the content of a
local disk that went to be readonly during power fail onto another
disk in the net using DFsee as nothing was able to clean the busy bit
on that disk.

\os2\boot\config.x is readonly! So remove the read bit and insert then
the right NIC makes it possible to use the net even when you can't
boot to WPS.

Only when the system drive itself gets in a state that it is
unbootable to commandline then the eCS CD #1 is needed to get a system
up and running that can either change the config.sys, startup.cmd or
others, run chkdsk /F:3 or DFSee on it. Always use formtat /L
during/before install as this is required to get chkdsk /F:3 working.
