Hello there David ....

DD>>> I been hit in the chest with a small stone thrown up by

DD>>> another vehicle. Even through my leather jacket and jumper etc it

DD>>> hurt like hell. I wouldn't like to be clouted on an unprotected

DD>>> head with the same pebble.

DD>>> A sparrow in the face at 140kph gets your attention too :-)

RL>> As does a golf ball sized hail stone to the visor at 100kph.

DD> I always try not to ride during hail storms.

Happened in Toowoomba after work, around 6pm. Heading home, trying to

beat the inevitable afternoon thunderstorm, had two drops of rain on the

visor before said hailstone!! Got hit heaps more as I battled through it

though. The worst was a huge stone that hit the inside of my left thigh,

about 1/2" from my left pill leaving a tremendous bruise that I used to

flash with impunity. ;-)

DD> The sparrow was into my visor. Split the visor in two and

DD> shoved it into my face, buckling my specs and cutting the side of

DD> my nose. Made my ears ring too.

I can imagine, after seeing them hit the windscreen of cars.

DD> Didn't see much of the bird after that . .

At least you didn't have to wreak revenge.

I was on an old Suzuki 500 Titan, back in the early '70s, and while

doing the ol' top speed run (no helmet, mind you, 110+mph), was punctured

in the throat by a bee/wasp/hornet. The shock of this hit nearly caused

me to collect a white post as I wandered across the road.

Ended up with a cricket ball sized lump in the throat from the swelling.
