rule of thumb -- have the basic plot line make basic sense. It did
& thus there's no reason to make assumptive extrapolations &
stretches, now, is there? }:)

Except, of course, for the fact that that's an assumption based
on an assumption, & if the premise is invalid, by definition the
conclusion must be also. A certain amount of latitude has to be
given for the sake of plot, otherwise we all get to be like, uh, hmm,
I don't think I'll be going any further with this one....
