Replying to a message from JIM HOLSONBACK 1:123/140 to ALL, About Old Car, On Wed Feb 18 2004 JH> I've heard various advice about what to do before trying to crank it JH> up - one said to pour about 1/2 pint of atf into the throttle body JH> and then let her rip. Another said to take all the plugs out, one JH> at a time, and spray WD-40 or so down in there before trying to JH> turn it over with the new battery. JH> What say ye? 1: Make sure the fuel is fresh, this may mean replacing the gas. add a pint of ATF to the fuel. 2: remove each plug and squirt some oil in each piston. replace plugs. 3: crank but do not start, let sit for about an hour then start make sure you are outside. 4: slowly pour a carbon remover, down the carb, which should condition the seals and gaskets. Good luck on the sale. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
