-> True.
But that's exactly what you do when you sell "The Little Mermaid", a
movie you did not make - a movie Disney owns the copyright for. You make
money of of their copyrighted material. You do admit that you take MONEY
for these tapes, don't you?
->
-> Again, true. Video piracy is hard to combat because it's so easy to
-> make an illegal dub (all you need is 2 VCRs) and also because
-> copyright violation falls under the civil domain, not the criminal
-> domain, so in order for action to be taken, the copyright holder
-> itself must peruse the violator. It's usually isn't cost-effective
-> for Disney to go after someone who makes one illegal copy of
-> Aristocats, for example. It *might* be worth their while i someone
-> was making a hundred copies a day of Aristocats and yes, because of
-> the ease of execution, and because it's generally a
-> matter, video pirates usually don't get themselves gone after unless
-> it big time and keep a high profile.

To quote Rafiki: "Nope. Wrong Again!"
Read the notice on the video tapes. It says "civil and criminal
penalties". It mentions jail times. It mentions criminal fines. It is a
criminal matter AND a civil matter. Why? Because when you sell MY
copyrighted work without my permission you are STEALING from me.
Stealing has always been a civil AND criminal matter.
