They do become more obvious though... the zone gates have always needed a bunch
of extra work to deal with the 2D seenbys and paths.  Bypassing the zone gates
means needing to either to do same thing as them (which will create endless
loops) or ensuring that 2D addresses are globally unique and explicitly NOT
behaving like a zone gate.

The problems of multiple cross-zone fidoweb links is a different problem to a
single cross-zone fidoweb gateway, so it is a specific problem to the fidoweb
way or routing.
