Not bad, I guess! :)

I realize that. I have an external SupraFAXModem. I can see when it shifts
up, and when it shifts down. Again, what I'm complaining about is the poor
_PERFORMANCE_ on 33.6 connections. I call less than 3000cps on a 33.6
connection poor performance. If the modem is using 33.6, it's because the
line quality is good enough.
Yes I know v34 will monitor line quality, and I know that it shifts rates up
AND down depending on the quality of the line. However, this all does nothing
to explain why someone should get such low transfer speeds on a 33.6
transfer. If the line can't support it, it would shift down. Not maintain the
same speed and suffer an 800+ cps penalty.

Keeping in mind that %E0 is the *DEFAULT* (refer to your modem manual) can
you explain why my modem shifts up and down as the line quality changes? Are
you saying I should enable the auto retrain?
