Hi, Cherane,
According to several friends and business acquaintances that knew him
for years Moses was a fairly successful bird dealer. One person I know
was his best friend. Moses was his supplier for Timneh Grays. But what I
understand about the collection at Loxahatcheee is that Moses had been
setting aside some birds along and along so that he would have some
breeding stock. I have heard two different versions of things down
there, that the birds were breeding and the babies were eaten, and that
they were not breeding yet  or even set up.
As for info generally on how things were during that crisis, I got my
info from Morgan Knox and Dwight Greenberg, my vet's tech that went down
to assist and take supplies, and from Howard Voren.
