AH> Stop worrying about your pocketbook.
I suppose you did not mean it as such, but that is an extremely offensive
remark. It has certainly put a chill in the air for me. :(
AH> We're talking about cleaning up one of the most crucial
AH> ecosystems on the planet, The Everglades.
This has nothing to do with my comments. I was not ever opposed to your end
goal. I was only concerned about errors in your comments. These errors must
not be important to you, because you didn't even bother to mention them.
That is unfortunate. These errors you made are of _vital_ concern to many,
and without addressing these errors, you will _never_ achieve your goals.
Many times enviornmentalists, average people, and industry have worked
together to solve, or at least improve, a situation. It is the short-sighted,
evangelical 'I don't give a damn about your problems, I just want to control
what you do' brand of envirnmentalists that give the whole movement a bad
name.
My questions were, I had hoped, aimed at addressing a few short-sighted
things I thought you had said. I have always been in agreement that our human
effects on the enviornment should be improved. Your complete lack of regard
for my questions speaks volumes.
AH> I would gladly pay a dollar or more for a Hershey or whatever
AH> just to see "Big Sugar" leave, entirely. Anyone who
AH> appreciates how this planet works would, no doubt, agree.
Sugar is much more of a staple than just candy bars or treats. I'm happy for
you that you are financially secure enough to not have to worry about money
and can afford luxouries. Your arrogance to the poor, who _must_ worry about
such things, is a big turn off.
AH> If you love nature, go there sometime, it's still beautiful -
AH> so far.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to do so. Unlike others, I _have_ to be
concerned about my finances.
AH> The industry whines and says, "It's not all our fault." Fine,
AH> but right now, we're going after you. We'll get the others
AH> next.
I consider this the wrong way to go about making lasting, important changes
in society. I feel there are better, more honest ways to do so. This has been
the main point of my argument, in case you missed it. I do not disagree that
change should be made. I disagree with your method of that change.
